The Cobra Kai team is finally back on set and ready for the sixth and final season of the popular Karate Kid spinoff series. Since it’s been nearly a year and half since Cobra Kai season five dropped in September 2022, Netflix released a new video that catches up with the cast and gives fans a taste of what’s to come.
The video features appearances by much of the main cast, including Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Xolo Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Vanessa Rubio, and Yuji Okumoto. Cast members express their enthusiasm for the new season while the video shows tidbits of the training and locations of season six, including what could be the setting for the Sekai Taikai.
The explosive Cobra Kai season five finale saw Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) fighting the villainous Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and his minions, while their students battled Silver’s harsher Cobra Kai regime. It ended with Daniel and Johnny’s students expecting to compete in the Sekai Taikai international karate tournament, Silver heading to jail for nearly killing Stingray (Paul Walter Hauser), and John Kreese (Kove) faking his own death to escape prison.
There are plenty of questions swirling around season six – will Silver buy his way out his legal troubles, will the Cobra Kai students join Johnny and Daniel’s team, and will Hilary Swank reprise her Next Karate Kid role of Julie Pierce? Cobra Kai is set to return sometime in 2024, though Netflix has not given a specific date yet.
