The Society of Illustrators is honoring art luminary Jack Davis’ 100th birthday with the exhibit, Jack Davis: A Centennial Celebration. The retrospective will showcase original art including well known pieces and some that are being displayed for the first time.

Davis was one of the most prolific, well recognized artists of our time who created art that has been an integral part of the American pop culture landscape. The cartoonist and illustrator had a dynamic body of work in MAD magazine, advertising art, magazine covers, album covers, comics, and movie posters.

Art featured in the exhibit covers the entirety of Davis’ six-decade career, from EC Comics and MAD magazine to TV Guide and Time magazine. Visitors will see the ad work he did for McDonald’s, NASCAR, Super Bowl promotions, even Raid. It also includes history book illustrations and his famous movie posters.

The exhibit is curated by Clint Morgan, Robert L. Reiner, and Benno Rothschild, with support and help from Jack Davis III. It opens on June 12, 2024, and runs all summer through September 21.

The Society of Illustrators is located at 128 East 63rd Street, in New York, New York. The exhibit will be held in the third floor Garden Gallery. Visitors can purchase tickets on the Society of Illustrators’ website.
