The xenomorphs are back to terrorize space travelers in Alien: Romulus. 20th Century Studios has dropped the official trailer previewing some of the horrors to come.

Alien: Romulus shares similarities with the original movie, following a group of space colonizers scavenging an abandoned space station. They soon learn why the station is uninhabited when they become prey to the universe’s most dangerous predators.

The trailer keeps the focus on the fear and isolation that the characters will experience on the space station. One character visibly witnesses a baby trying to escape her chest, another is attacked underwater in a flooded compartment, and there’s a shot that mirrors Ripley’s up close encounter in Alien 3.

The movie stars Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu. It is directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead), who co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2), and original Alien director Ridley Scott is a producer on the film.

Alien: Romulus will premiere in theaters on August 16, 2024. The trailer contains adult language; it can be viewed on YouTube.
