Physical media has seen a huge decline in recent years due to the convenience and accessibility of streaming services. However, there are still many movie fans that prefer having a physical copy of their favorite flicks – especially since they can be removed from streamers at any time. The passionate, if smaller, fanbase of physical releases is sustained by companies focused on the continued production of Blu-rays and DVDs.

Now, some of the popular original titles from horror streamers Shudder and IFC Films will be get special physical editions through a distribution deal with Severin Films, a boutique Blu-ray and DVD label. The first wave of titles are Antiviral (written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg), The Autopsy of Jane Doe (directed by André Øvredal), Baskin (directed by Can Evrenol), the 2012 remake of Maniac (directed by Franck Khalfoun), Satan’s Slaves (written and directed by Joko Anwar), and the 2006 remake of Sisters (directed by Douglas Buck).

The deal was brokered by Shudder’s Vice President of Programming Sam Zimmerman, AMC Networks Director of Content Sales Lucas Verga, and Severin Film’s co-founder & CEO David Gregory.

“The work done at Severin Films is astounding,” Zimmerman said. “They are directly responsible for some of the greatest home video releases ever and seeing a selection of our Shudder and IFC Films gems get the treatment is a delight.”

Severin Films has licensed around 50 films, including Cemetery Man, The Changeling, and Threads. Their own productions include Lost Soul – The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau and Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched.
