Congratulations to our friend, former colleague, and still frequent Overstreet contributor Mark L. Haynes, and his producing partner, Kely Lyons, on the announcement that their premium audio drama, Hindsight: The Day Before, will debut Monday, July 22, 2024, on a wide variety of podcast platforms.

The story is a supernatural thriller. It starts out in the time of – and distinctly tied to – master escape artist Harry Houdini and unfolds into a major mystery. The series follows Professor John Gabriel Strasser, who, after an impulse purchase at a Harlem curio shop, is sent on a life-changing journey of discovery.

Star Trek: Picard’s Santiago Cabrera and John Goodman are the most notable names in the cast, but it looks like stellar talent from start to finish, including Sibongile Mlambo, Ian Anthony Dale, M.C. Gainey, Merrin Dungey, Aaron Stanford, and Nolan Gerard Funk.

Haynes and Lyon’s company, Mark Haynes Productions, has combined cutting edge technology and old-time radio, the rise of premium dramatic audio is leading to a new golden age of imaginative storytelling. The series is co-produced by Ted Bonnitt and RadioPictures.com. Bonnitt collaborated with MHP to design the series’ innovative Dolby Atmos 3D audio production.

In addition to his Overstreet work, Haynes’ comic book connnections include Battlestar Galactica, 24, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe.

Hindsight: The Day Before is written and directed by Lyons based on Hindsight, a television series created by Haynes and presently in development by MHP. The trailer is online now.
