The Boys TV series may be ending with the upcoming fifth season, but the world based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is still growing. During The Boys panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that a new TV series will delve into the history of Vought International.
Titled, Vought Rising, the show will star Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, both returning to the roles originated on The Boys. When Ackles announced that he’ll be in the show, he called it a “lurid pulp saga prequel.”
Ackles joined The Boys in season three as a non-aging Supe, who is a foul-mouthed, violent war hero with a long history with Vought. In season two of The Boys, it was revealed that Stormfront had been Frederick Vought’s wife and the first successful Compound V test subject.
The Boys executive producer Paul Grellong will be the showrunner and EP, and The Boys show creator Eric Kripke will be an executive producer.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys,” Kripke and Grellong said. “It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Vought Rising will also be executive produced by Ennis, Robertson, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Neal H. Moritz, and several others.
