After selling over 17,500 digital and print copies of The Addiction #1, co-creators Vincent Zurzolo and David Quinn announced that The Addiction #2 is now in stores. It is offered with variant covers by Ryan Brown, Amanda Conner, RobotCat, and Andres Labrada.
This newsstand release comes after successful early variant sales at San Diego Comic-Con, according to Quinn and Zurzolo. At SDCC, the creators were joined by the creative team of Andres Labrada and David Mack. Artist Claudia Balboni returns for The Addiction #2, as Niki Tino continues her war against the drug cartels who accidentally gave the doctor her chemically enhanced superpowers.
“It was really gratifying to see the initial response to Niki Tino and her boyfriend Enzo taking on the drug cartels,” Zurzolo said. “Now we’re excited to introduce Addiction fans to some of the wildest rogues to ever hit downtown NYC, as Niki and Enzo go up against the Candy-Coated Death Trap of Mister Licorice and Bette Noir!”
Brown provided a brooding cover, Labrada created an action-packed Thanos parody, RobotCat produced a Manga design, and Conner created lovestruck mayhem. The creative team is already preparing for The Addiction #3’s digital release via VeVe Comics.
The Addiction marks Quinn’s return to comics after his acclaimed work on Doctor Strange and Faust: Love of the Damned. The comic is Zurzolo’s latest adventure in the industry after 25 years of leading ComicConnect. Eisner-nominated artist Balboni has built an international following for her work on titles including Fairlady and Killer Queens.
