Alex Cross, the hero of a series of novels by James Patterson, is making the jump to the small screen. Prime Video released a new look at Cross, starring Aldis Hodge in the lead role, as he hunts for disturbed killers in Washington, DC.
The trailer introduces Alex Cross as a police detective who is also a forensic psychologist that uses his understanding of the human mind to catch killers. He’s confident and great at his job, but he’s also still grieving the death of his wife and trying to raise two kids as a single father. Cross’ obsessive pursuit of murderers puts him on their radar too, making him and his family prey for some very bad people.
Ben Watkins developed the series and serves as the showrunner and executive producer, and Patterson is also among the executive producers. Hodge is joined in the series by Isaiah Mustafa, Jennifer Wigmore, Juanita Jennings, Melody Hurd, Caleb Elijah, Stacie Greenwell, Sharon Taylor, and Ryan Eggold.
Patterson wrote his first Alex Cross book, Along Came a Spider, in 1993, and has since churned out 25 more novels in the series. Three of the Alex Cross novels have been adapted as films, starting with Kiss the Girls in ’97, then Along Came a Spider in 2001 (both starring Morgan Freeman), and Alex Cross (based on the novel, Cross) in 2012, starring Tyler Perry.
The eight-episode first season of Cross will start streaming on Prime Video on November 14, 2024.
