Actor Nicholas Pryor, who starred in Risky Business and Port Charles, died from cancer on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was 89 years old.

Pryor played Tom Cruise’s dad in the quintessential teen movie, Risky Business, and he starred in Port Charles as former spy and math professor Victor Collins.

He was born Nicholas Probst on January 28, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, attended Yale University, and appeared on stage in Baltimore, Maine, and Minneapolis. Pryor was in nearly 175 movies and TV shows, starting with The Brighter Day and The Secret Storm TV series in 1954.

Pryor starred in Another World, The Nurses TV series, Damien: Omen II, and Airplane!. He appeared in episodes of Eight is Enough, M*A*S*H, Dallas, and Knight Rider, and played Robert Downey Jr.’s father in Less Than Zero.

He starred in The Bronx Zoo TV series, Hoffa, he had a recurring role in Beverly Hills, 90210, he was in Executive Decision, The Chamber, and Murder at 1600. Pryor’s more recent work has been in Constantine, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, Doctor Sleep, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and his final role was in 2021’s Halloween Kills.
