The 3-D Film Archive, the company that restores 3-D and 2-D movies, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their first Blu-ray release.

Producer, author, and motion picture archivist Bob Furmanek founded the 3-D Film Archive in 1990. Once the company restored vintage stereoscopic movies, they took them to film festivals and special screenings around the world. With interest in home videos growing, the company saw more demand for restoration of classic era 3-D films.

In 2014, they released their first Blu-ray, Dragonfly Squadron, and since that first entry, 3-D Film Archive has produced many more restorations in the format. They have worked with distribution partners like Kino Lorber, ClassicFlix, Flicker Alley, and BayView Entertainment to release restored versions of Gog, The Maz, Robot Monster, Flesh for Frankenstein, Bwana Devil, Dynasty, and It Came from Outer Space.

Furmanek is also an Abbott & Costello historian who co-authored the book, Abbott & Costello in Hollywood. He led several 3-D Film Archive restorations of the comedy duo’s films, such as Africa Screams and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Some of the 3-D film restorations coming up include The Glass Web, Money from Home, Frankenstein’s Bloody Terror, Arch Oboler’s Domo Arigato, and The Bubble. They are extending into publishing with their first printed work, Robot Monster Comics in 3-D, which will be released soon.
