The heroes of Hawkins, Indiana are gearing up for another battle with the Upside Down in Stranger Things season five. The Netflix series has released a teaser video that announces the episode titles on the upcoming fifth and final season.

Episode titles are “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing Of,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape from Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.” When “The Vanishing Of” title appears in the teaser, it looks like an obscured name flickers below, suggesting that the title will be completed after the first episode.

Based on the titles, the gang’s latest Dungeons and Dragons inspired villain is Camazotz “the god of bats and evil” from the Greyhawk world. The character is also the god of vampires and the underworld. This could mean a return of the bat army that killed fan favorite character Eddie Munson in season four.

The teaser also revealed that season five will begin after a significant time jump. Season four took place in March 1986 when they defeated Vecna, the group finally reunited in Hawkins, Max was left gravely injured and comatose, and the barrier between our world and the Upside Down cracked, producing fissures throughout the town.

Season five begins roughly a year and a half later in the fall of 1987, marking the biggest time jump between seasons. This could be a move that explains why the actors have aged so much (most of the young cast are now in their early 20s). It will likely set up how life in Hawkins has changed and perhaps how the rest of the world is reacting to the opening between worlds.

The teaser ends by announcing that season five will stream on Netflix sometime in 2025.
