On November 13, 2024, the Society of Illustrators will host a special event to teach attendees about the process of creating comic books. Author and illustrator Jose Fragoso will lead the discussion.
Based on his comic series, Olivia Wolf, Fragoso will break down all of the stages that are part of making comics. This will include the creation of main and secondary characters, creating a logo, writing the outline and script, developing the story, and sketching. He will also get into topics like meeting with publishers and how to ensure that an ongoing series continues to entertain readers.
In addition to writing and drawing children’s books, Fragoso teaches illustration at ESDIP in Madrid, Spain. His work is featured in over 20 books, including I Will Be Patient, a story about explaining COVID-19 to children.
Tickets are $10 for students or seniors, $12 for members, and $15 for the general public. The event will be held from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on November 13. The Society of Illustrators is located at 128 East 63rd Street, in New York, New York.
