The Green Lantern Corp and their allies continue to grow. Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever) has joined the Lanterns HBO series in a recurring role opposite series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
In the Lanterns TV series, Hal is considered one of the best members of the Green Lanterns and John is a recent recruit. The two Lanterns will be “drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,” per the official synopsis.
Jagannathan will star as Zoe, who is described as a confident, poised, and intelligent woman, and is rumored to be a love interest for John Stewart. Her credits also include The Night Of miniseries, Big Little Lies, the Apple movie Wolfs, and the upcoming Hulu comedy Deli Boys.
The show will also star Kelly Macdonald as the no-nonsense Sheriff Kerry and Garret Dillahunt as ruthlessly ambitious cowboy William Macon.
Lanterns was created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with Mundy serving as showrunner, while Lindelof and King are co-writing and executive producing. The eight-episode season is part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new connected DCU. The mystery in Lanterns will continue into the first phase of their connected movies and TV shows, titled Gods and Monsters.
