Animated show voice actor and director Dan Hennessey has died. He was 82 years old.
Hennessey was best known for voicing Chief Quimby in Inspector Gadget series and Braveheart Lion in Care Bears movies and series in the 1980s, and for voice directing the X-Men series in the ‘90s.
His career began in the 1970s on the show Music Machine and the movies Sudden Fury and Starship Invasions. Hennessey primarily worked in animation starting in the ‘80s as King Gorneesh in Star Wars: Ewoks, Captain Cag in Star Wars: Droids, Genghis Rex in Dinosaurs, and RoboCop in the RoboCop series. He also did voice work in Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Madballs videos, A.L.F., Police Academy: The Animated Series, C.O.P.S., and several voices for the Beetlejuice animated show.
Hennessey voiced Bully Koopa in Super Mario shows and Thomson in The Adventures of Tintin. During the ‘90s, he also voiced characters in Babar, Little Shop, Monster Force, Wild C.A.T.S.: Covert Action Teams, Little Bear videos, and The Busy World of Richard Scarry.
His later work included Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 video game, the RoboRoach TV series, and more Little Bear videos.
