Sherlock Holmes is an enduring character who has entertained generations through books, films, and other entertainment mediums. It isn’t hard to deduce why the keen detective who solves the most intriguing and difficult mysteries is still beloved nearly 140 years after he was created. Now, Sherlock is ready for new adventures in two different comic book crowdfunding campaigns.
Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders: The Gene Genie is the second volume in the graphic novel series written by Joel Meadows with art by Andy Bennett.
“Volume Two has Holmes at his lowest ebb, losing his closest friend and confidante to prime minister Oswald Mosley’s thugs. But a cornered man is perhaps the most dangerous, so can he with the assistance of rebel Mohock Franklyn Miller, Mosley’s former cats paw Six and others bring down Mosley and restore England to its status quo?” per the description
The 120-page book features covers by Dan Panosian and Frazer Irving and comes with original pin-ups by George Pratt, Tomm Coker, John K. Snyder III, Barry Kitson, and Bennett.
The Kickstarter campaign has already met its $6,327 goal. Pledge levels start at about $19 for a digital copy of the graphic novel, $32 for the first and second volumes in digital format, and $38 for the hardcover. They go up to $254 for a page of original art.
Sherlock Holmes: Leviathan pairs the detective with the great Captain Nemo in a 72-page story by Mike Baron (Punisher) that is illustrated by Richard Bonk (Superman).
“The world’s greatest detective Sherlock Holmes has faced many challenges, but none has prepared him to deal with a wary shipping magnate grappling with freighters that are disappearing without a trace. When a lone survivor, clinging to a capsized lifeboat, blames the disappearing ships on an iron monster from the deep, the undersea mystery leads the world famous investigator to the brilliant and enigmatic Captain Nemo, who has built perhaps the greatest war machine the world has ever known to embark on a quixotic quest to end global conflicts,” per the description.
Sherlock and Nemo will be joined by Dr. Watson and Irene Adler on a mission to stop a man from starting a world war. Throughout their mission, they will meet heroes and villains from throughout literature and history.
