Pamela Hayden, the actress who has voiced Milhouse for the past 35 years is retiring from The Simpsons. Her final episode was the “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes” that aired on November 24, 2024.
Hayden has voiced Bart Simpson’s blue haired and bespectacled best friend Milhouse Van Houten since the first episode of The Simpsons aired in 1989. Since then, she has loaned her voice to nearly 700 episodes of the long-running animated series.
“People come up to me and they quote Milhouse lines,” Hayden said in a video when she announced her retirement. “People are always saying what a nerd he is. But one thing that I love about Milhouse is he’s always getting knocked down, but he keeps getting up. I love the little guy.”
In addition to voicing Milhouse, Hayden voiced school bully Jimbo Jones, Lisa’s friend Janey Powell, Rod and Todd Flanders, and Sarah Wiggum.
Outside of The Simpsons she has voice acted in Turbo Teen, Snorks, Tom & Jerry Kids Show, Pinky and the Brain, The New Batman Adventures, Recess, and Pound Puppies.
