G.I. Joe voice actress Morgan Lofting died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Her agents Nery Lemus and Christopher Arsaga announced her passing. She was 84 years old.

Lofting voiced the Baroness, the Cobra chief intelligence officer who tried to defeat the Joes on a weekly basis. She originated the role of the ruthless villain in the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero – The M.A.S.S. Device animated miniseries in 1983. Lofting voiced the Baroness in the G.I. Joe series in the mid-1980s, The Revenge of Cobra miniseries, the G.I. Joe: The Movie, and the second animated series in the early ‘90s.

She was born on February 2, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and began her acting career in 1979 voicing Princess Invidia in Star Blazers. Lofting voiced Aunt May in the Spider-Man series, she was in Joysticks, Carpool, voiced Bridgette in Which Witch is Which, voiced characters in The Transformers animated series, appeared in episodes of Knots Landing, loaned her voice to Jem, and voiced characters in Total Recall.

In ’89, Lofting earned a bachelor’s degree, then went on to get her master’s in history from Cal State Northridge, and became a librarian.
