The Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation’s year-end campaign, “I Stand with Book and Comic Stores” is looking to raise $150,000 by December 31, 2024.

To date, Binc has issued 390 grants to book and comic book stores, employees, and their families in 2024. This is up from the 312 grants they issued in 2023.

“The people who keep the doors of our beloved community bookstores and comic shops open need our support more now than ever,” Binc Executive Director Pam French said. “Binc is receiving 60% more calls for help from booksellers and comic retailers than before the pandemic. There are many worthy causes seeking support this Giving Tuesday and we’re grateful to everyone who thinks Binc.”

The campaign includes a matching gift from Penguin Random House who will match all gifts dollar for dollar up to $15,000.

“Comics, games, and books have been a delightful part of my life,” said an anonymous comic retailer who came forward to offer a second match gift. “The stores that support them have been my job, my passion and my relief. Binc helps give back in support of independent stores when we need it most.”

Binc supporters who donate $100 will receive one audiobook credit and those who give over $500 will get three audiobook credits. The offer runs through December 31, 2024.
