Actress Jill Jacobson, known for Falcon Crest and The New Gidget, died on December 8, 2024, following a long illness. She was 70 years old.
Jacobson played spy Erin Jones in the primetime soap opera Falcon Crest, starring in 22 episodes of the series from 1985 to ’87. She starred in The New Gidget, a sequel to the ‘60s sitcom, as Gidget’s best friend Larue. The show ran from ’86 to ’88.
She was born in Texas in 1954, and grew up in Beaumont and Dallas. Jacobson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV, and Film Performance from the University of Texas, then she moved to Los Angeles to become an actress. Her first role was the 1977 horror slasher Nurse Sherri, then she was in Bad Georgia Road and Up Yours.
Jacobson was in the TV movies Not Just Another Affair, Forbidden Love, and An Uncommon Love, and the movies Splash and Perfect Victims. She did guest spots in the shows War of the Worlds, Quantum Leap, and Newhart.
She was a guest star in Freddy’s Nightmares, Who’s the Boss?, Murphy Brown, Days of Our Lives, Star Trek: Deep Space Nice, and Arli$$. Jacobson was also in Instinct to Kill, The Circle, Ghost Whisperer, Front of the Class, Hung, Castle, Visage, and her final role was a 2020 episode of Etheria.
