Worlds collide when two senseis come together to help one student in Karate Kid: Legends. Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first trailer for the latest chapter in The Karate Kid franchise, bringing together Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han.

The trailer starts when Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) makes an unannounced visit to Mr. Miyagi’s home in the US where he tells Daniel (Ralph Macchio) that he knew the latter’s former sensei. The scene transitions to New York City to introduce young Li Fong (Ben Wang). Mr. Han tells Daniel that the boy is to him what Daniel was to Mr. Miyagi.

Then the trailer shows Li being trained by both Daniel and Mr. Han, and fighting other kids in what appear to be unsanctioned matches. It ends with Daniel telling Li that they are “two branches, one tree” followed by quick action shots of Mr. Han, Daniel, and Li fighting multiple foes.

Karate Kid: Legends is the sixth film in the franchise, following three that starred Macchio, one with Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) training a new student, and the fifth introduced Chan as kung-fu master Mr. Han who trained an American boy bullied at his new school in China. The movie is set after the end of the Cobra Kai Netflix series on which Macchio stars as the sensei of Miyagi-Do.

The movie also stars Ming-Na Wen, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Aramis Knight, and Wyatt Oleff. It is written by Rob Lieber (Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween) and directed by Jonathan Entwistle (I Am Not Okay with This).

Karate Kid: Legends premieres in theaters on May 30, 2025.
