The wildfires devastating parts of California are having a terrible impact on the wildlife and domestic animals of multiple areas. Pets are getting lost during evacuations, wild animals are seeking safety, veterinarians and shelters are being overwhelmed by injured animals or their facilities are being destroyed by the fires. There are several ways that people can help these animals in need.

In Defense of Animals is seeking donations to provide temporary shelter, food and water, veterinary supplies, and other emergency needs. They recently went on a harrowing journey to help rescue two ponies from a property that was threatened by the fire. You can read about that event and make donations at idausa.org.

Philozoia is an animal shelter that was burned down because there was no water available to put out the fire. They need money to rebuild their facility and care for animals they were able to save. More details of their situation are available, and donations can be made on their GoFundMe page.

The Pasadena Humane Society is helping a large amount of burned and frightened dogs, cats, and other pets. They are close to reaching their initial goal of $25,000, however, they have taken in a lot more animals since that first goal was set. Donations can be made on their GivingGrid page.
