An 11-year-old baseball fan from Los Angeles hit the jackpot by finding a unique, one of a kind baseball card for National League Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes. The one-of-one card is made even more impressive because it includes an autograph by the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher and piece of his game worn jersey.

Given those impressive statistics, the baseball card could be worth quite a bit on the collecting market. Someone is already pursuing the card: the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team has presented an offer to the youngster including two Pirates season tickets behind home plate for the next 30 years, a meet and greet with Skenes, and two Skenes-signed jerseys.

They offered a softball game for 30 people at PNC Park, with coaching from Pirates alumni. Additionally, the 11-year-old collector will get a private tour of Pirates City and Lecom Park and get to watch a Pirates game with Livvy Dunne (Louisiana State University gymnast and Skenes girlfriend) in her suite.

Skenes has begun what should be a promising career in Major League Baseball. He finished third in the NL Cy Young Award voting during his rookie season. He was the first overall pick in the 2023 amateur draft, finished 11-3 in his first season with an ERA of 1.96. He was chosen as the National League’s starting pitcher for the All-Star Game.
