A beloved Dr. Seuss book filled with adventure and whimsy is being adapted as an animated musical film. Oh, the Places You’ll Go! will follow a child who will travel the world, exploring exciting new places and experiencing the joy and sorrow that life offers. Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is developing the project.
It will be co-directed by Jon M. Chu, who helmed the wildly successful Wicked movie (which has been nominated for ten Academy Awards) and Jil Culton (Open Season). The script is being written by Rob Lieber (Peter Rabbit) with songs by Benj Paske and Justin Paul, who won Oscars for their work in La La Land.
This movie joins a slate of other theatrical film adaptations based on Dr. Seuss’ popular works. In 2000, Jim Carrey starred in the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas, then Mike Myers was in 2003’s live-action The Cat in the Hat. It was followed by the animated features Horton Hears a Who! in 2008, The Lorax in 2012, and The Grinch in 2018. His works have seen many TV movies and specials, most famously, How the Grinch Stole Christmas in 1966.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is scheduled for release in theaters in March 2028.
