Independent superhero comic Cat & Mouse is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a new book. Silverline Comics is publishing a miniseries from co-creator/writer Roland Mann, artists Dean Zachary and Barb Kaalberg, colorist Kevin Gallegly, and letterer Brian Dale.

Cat and Mouse are superheroes who protect New Orleans from the mob, gangsters, and other villains. Brett Huffman, aka Cat, dropped out of the police academy after his dad was murdered and became a crimefighter. Bobbi Vasquez, aka Mouse, is the sister of Brett’s former fiancée who decided to become a superhero after he rescued her from a trafficking syndicate. Despite often conflicting over how to stop criminals, the pair stick together to help people.

In the new series, Cat is asked to find the runaway sister of an old girlfriend and learns that her disappearance is connected to human trafficking. Cat and Mouse will be joined on this mission by an eccentric group including a demon who has appeared in previous issues and a ninja.

“Human trafficking is a real hot button issue that I don’t think gets as much attention as it should,” Mann said. “I found a storyline that fits Cat and Mouse as characters and also shines a light on the awfulness of this criminal activity.”

“I do a lot of conventions and folks who drop by the Silverline booth are always asking about Cat and Mouse,” Mann added. “Those conversations have kept the characters in the front of my mind, and I’ve always been looking for the right time to bring them back. I just couldn’t let their 35th anniversary pass by without a published acknowledgement.”

Cat & Mouse #1 will ship from Silverline Comics in April 2025 and is available in the current Diamond Comic Distributors PREVIEWS catalog.
