The Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation has given $750 scholarships to four comic retailers to attend the ComicsPRO industry meeting. The event will be held on February 20-22, 2025, in Glendale, California.
The scholarships were awarded to Erik Jones of Four Color Fantasies in Winchester, Virginia; Andrea Gilroy of Books with Pictures in Portland, Oregon; and Zacharie Lasiter and Shannon Merritt of 901 Comics in Memphis, Tennessee. The winners can use the scholarship funds for travel, lodging, meals, and replacement wages; ComicsPRO is covering the registration fee for the meeting.
“We are pleased to continue our support for comic retailers with these scholarships,” said Binc’s Executive Director Pam French. “When we learned there would not be a Diamond Summit this year, we decided to redirect those scholarship funds and award four scholarships for ComicsPRO. We look forward to meeting them in California.”
ComicsPRO is a trade organization for direct market comic retailers; the conference offers comic retailers the opportunity to meet with publishers, distributors, and other pop culture wholesalers.
