Quantcast

They don’t have superpowers and they aren’t heroes, but they are here to save the day. A new trailer for Thunderbolts* dropped during the Super Bowl, previewing their attempts at redemption and working together as a team.

It opens with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) addressing an official committee and delivering the blunt fact that “the Avengers are not coming.” As someone clearly powerful is shown killing people (most likely Void), she asks the suits, “Who will keep America safe?” Next, we see Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) asking Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) – who are tied up – if they’ll work together to stop the threat.

Action shots follow as Yelena points out that all they do is punch and shoot, while Valentina states that they won’t work well together. After Yelena talks about how they’ve all done bad things in their past, Bucky tells her that they can do something about it now. When things look bleak through some new and previously seen footage, Red Guardian delivers a rousing speech to inspire the group – complete with a hope that they’ll end up on a Wheaties box.

Thunderbolts* is directed by Jack Schreier (Skeleton Crew), with former Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson among the executive producers. It also stars Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster and Lewis Pullman as Robert Reynolds/Sentry.

The movie will be in theaters on May 2, 2025.
