The latest incarnation of the Avengers is assembling! Marvel announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday in dramatic fashion with a long video presentation that slowly pans across a line of chairs that each bear the name of a star who will appear in the film.
There’s a short list of stars who faced Thanos in the last two Avengers movies, led by Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Anthony Mackie is back as Captain America, joined by Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Paul Rudd is shrinking again as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright is returning as Black Panther and is joined by Winston Duke as fellow Wakandan M’Baku.
After making their debut in the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm will be in the movie.
The Thunderbolts* cast is in the movie, including Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as White Widow, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
Simu Liu is returning as Shang-Chi, the hero of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Tenoch Huerta Mejia is reprising the role of Namor, which he originated in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Channing Tatum, who finally got to play Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, will star in the movie.
The big news continued with the announcement that several actors who appeared in X-Men movies will star in Avengers: Doomsday. They include Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler.
The nearly 5 and a half hour video presentation ended with Robert Downey Jr. taking his seat at the end of the lengthy line of empty cast chairs.
Avengers: Doomsday is the next film in the MCU following Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, both of which come out in 2025. Doomsday is now in production and will arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026.
