It’s tough being a teenager. Especially when your family moves halfway around the world and fitting into a new school proves difficult. Fortunately for Li Fong (Ben Wang), he’ll have not one but two senseis to help him on that front.

The new trailer for Karate Kid: Legends begins when Li and his mother (Ming-Na Wen) move to New York City. It doesn’t take long for the local bully, who happens to be a karate champion, to start harassing Li. A solution presents itself in the form of a local karate tournament, so Li’s former kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) seeks the help of former Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). The two martial arts masters start to collaborate, building on Li’s foundation in kung fu and teaching him new moves through karate.

Karate Kid: Legends is the sixth film in the franchise that began with the Macchio-starring trilogy in the 1980s. The most recent film starred Chan as the kung-fu master who trained an American boy bullied at his new school in China. The movie is set after the end of the Cobra Kai Netflix series that just wrapped up its sixth and final season.

The movie was written by Rob Lieber (Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween) and directed by Jonathan Entwistle (I Am Not Okay with This). It also stars Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Aramis Knight, and Wyatt Oleff.

Karate Kid: Legends arrives in theaters on May 30, 2025.
