Over the last few months
Scoop has offered previews of
The Three
Musketeers-Disney's new direct-to-DVD Mickey Mouse animated feature. And now
the grand premiere is here: as of this writing,
Musketeers graces the
shelves of your favorite video retailer. But the fun doesn't end there. As of
Wednesday, September 1, comic shops and book stores unleash our own end of the
project: Gemstone's
Three Musketeers comics adaptation, a $3.95
prestige-format special.
Here's a chance to see old-time France as you've
never seen it before. Writer David Gerstein and artist Fabrizio Petrossi tell of
how palace janitors Mickey, Donald, and Goofy become musketeers to protect
Princess Minnie-not knowing they're being manipulated by villainous Captain
Pete. You'll also see Daisy as Minnie's lady-in-waiting, Clarabelle Cow as
Pete's harridan lieutenant, and three Beagle Boys as vile rabble (hey, somebody
had to play the part). The tale is topped by the Silly Symphonies' own Toby
Tortoise, narrating goings-on in an outrageous accent.

Musketeers in its final, boldly colored form.
This is the first Disney project from Gemstone containing all newly-commissioned
material-and now's your chance to find it at book stores and comic shops. (And
if you can't find a comic shop, no need to call for Musketeer assistance. Dial
