What makes the best comic book covers? It is a great topic for debate. For us, as individuals, there is no wrong answer, of course; it is purely subjective. But, with a little thought it’s possible to explain what it is about a particular image that grabs you. The best images are the ones that make you stop and check out something you weren’t previously planning to purchase – and in some cases, you even end up picking up a title you’ve never even heard of before.

The creative team of Steve Niles and Nat Jones started creating a modern connection between the classic Atlas-Seaboard characters when they teamed Wulf the Barbarian with Detective Sam Lomax inside the pages of their epic series, Wulf.

Well, what they began, the superstar editorial team of journeyman writer Tom Peyer and veteran creator turned editor in chief Mike Grell would have continued – beginning with the retailer preview edition entitled: Atlas Unified #0 Prelude: Midnight.

Released with the cover dates 2010-2011, this hard to find release from At Last Entertainment/Nemesis was missioned to promote the never-published crossover event designed to bring all the classic Atlas-Seaboard characters out of the past and into the 21st century.

Included in this “Untold Tale” made real was: The Grim Ghost, Kid Cody, Luke Malone Manhunter, Phoenix, Sgt. Hawk, Wulf, Vicki, and many other heroes and villains from times past.

Offering a glimpse into what might have been by an all-star team, and featuring a cover by newcomer Jimbo Salgado, this is a must for Atlas completists as well as fans of these classic comic favorites.
