Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, is an exceptionally skilled spy and heroine. She was created by Stan Lee, Don Rico, and Don Heck, who introduced her as a villain. Since then, she has switched sides, following her moral compass to become an important heroine in Marvel’s roster.
Black Widow is highly trained in espionage, a very talented fighter and markswoman, brave, efficient, and at times ruthless. A master of multiple martial arts disciplines, she is also a great gymnast who uses the combination of abilities to win her battles.
When Black Widow debuted in Tales of Suspense #52 (April 1964), the issue carried a cover price of 12¢. Six years later when Robert M. Overstreet published the first Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide in 1970, a Near Mint copy was valued at 65¢. Ten years later, in the Guide #10, it grew 10 times to $10.50.
By 1990’s the Guide #20 Black Widow’s debut was up to $45, and it tripled in value to $135 in the Guide #30. Natasha took a big jump in 2010’s the Guide #40, landing at $900. That momentum continued after another ten years, reaching $5,400 in the Guide’s milestone 50th edition. Just four years later in 2024’s the Guide #54, Black Widow’s first appearance in Near Mint condition was priced at $11,500.
