Quantcast

When one thinks of fantasy art, including John Carter and Conan, one artist’s name comes to mind: Frank Frazetta. Hake’s is proud to offer not just one, but two signed original pen and ink drawings by the master in Auction #205, which is now online and closes Tuesday and Thursday, March 20 and 22, 2012.

First up is an interior preliminary for the 1974 Doubleday Book Club edition of Swords of Mars & Synthetic Men of Mars. The art has John Carter standing in front of a semi-nude woman. Also in the current auction is a bold full figure of Conan holding a sword. Both are nice examples of Frazetta’s facility with pen and ink. To paraphrase an old expression, “There is no such thing as bad Frazetta art, just good and better.” These are better!

These two pieces are just part of the huge selection up for bid this time. In all, there are more than 3,100 offerings this time in a wide variety of collecting categories in this auction.
