Hake’s Americana & Collectibles closed Auction #217 a few weeks ago with another sale that reached over $1 million. Some of the best highlights were the crime fighters. The web-slingers, utility belt wearers, iron suited, ring wearing superheroes dominated sales on CGC graded books.

Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 9.8 with the first appearance of the Punisher sold for $8,855. The Marvel comic features a story by Gerry Conway and cover by Gil Kane and John Romita.

Tales of Suspense #39 CGC 4.5 featuring Iron Man’s debut closed at $4,174. This key Silver Age book features stories by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber with cover by Jack Kirby, and art by Don Heck, Steve Ditko, and Gene Colan.

Fantastic Four #1 CGC 3.0 reached $4,048. Featuring the first appearance of the Fantastic Four, this Marvel hit has cover and art by Jack Kirby with story by Stan Lee.

Detective Comics #30 CGC 3.5, telling an early Batman story brought $3,921. The 1939 DC book also includes an appearance by Dr. Death, concluding the story that began in issue #29.

Weird Comics #2 CGC 6.0 closed at $3,162, over an estimate of $1,000 to $2,000. The 1940 Fox Features Syndicate book comes with cover by Lou Fine.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 7.5 sold for $2,817. The first printing copy told the origin story and first appearance of the Ninja Turtles.

The Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 8.5 featuring the first appearance of Wolverine realized $2,530. This issue has a Len Wein story with Herb Trimpe cover and additional art by Trimpe and Jack Abel.

Strange Tales #110 CGC 5.5 with the debut of Doctor Strange ended at $2,247. In addition to Doctor Strange, this book also includes first appearances of Ancient One, Nightmare, and Wong.

Detective Comics #32 CGC 4.5 Restored Apparent netted $2,087. The early Golden Age DC book featured a story in which Batman used a gun.

Science Comics #5 CGC 7.0 from 1940 closed at $1,644. The Fox Features Syndicate title is a scare Golden Age book with Joe Simon cover.

Showcase #22 CGC 3.0 featuring the first appearance of Green Lantern Hal Jordan sold for $1,518. The DC comic from 1959 featured a story by Joe Broome with art by Gil Kane and Joe Giella.
