On June 26, 2021, Heritage Auctions will hold the CGC Registry Signature X-Men Collection Showcase Auction, featuring the Anastasias Collect CGC Registry Set. It is ranked No. 2 on CGCs list of complete X-Men runs spanning 1963’s landmark debut through #544, the final issue published 48 years later.

At the very top of the pile is X-Men #1 CGC 9.0 Signature Series Stan Lee – the highest graded Signature Series copy offered for public sale. Similarly, they have X-Men #4 CGC 9.2 Signature Series Stan Lee, with the first appearance of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, that is the highest graded Signature Series copy.

“Not many Silver Age comics have garnered more attention this year than that book,” Heritage Comics Consignment Director Rick Akers said. “And this is as good as it gets with perfect centering, striking color and the ideal signature placement by Stan Lee.”

Another signed gem is Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 9.8 Signature Series Stan Lee and Len Wein. This key book introduced Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird, and had Wolverine’s second full appearance.

Additional highlights are X-Men #12 CGC 9.4 Signature Series Stan Lee, #50 CGC 9.4 Signature Series Stan Lee and Jim Steranko, #94 CGC 9.6 Signature Series Stan Lee, Len Wein, and Chris Claremont, #101 (Phoenix’s origin and first appearance) CGC 9.8 Signature Series Stan Lee and Chris Claremont, and #141 (“Days of Future Past” part one) CGC 9.8 Signature Series Stan Lee, Chris Claremont, and Terry Austin.

“There are so many of the highest-graded Signature Series comics in this auction – it is really a dream come true,” Akers said. “X-Men is the hottest title in comics, and these are some of the best copies – and some of the most elusive – offered in the last several years. This is not an auction to miss.”
