In the next few weeks, Mycomicshop.com (MCS) will announce that they are adding quite a bit of original comic art to their site. Over the last two months they have been buying and have also gotten original art in for consignment.
“We have been and continue to actively seek original art to buy or to take in for consignment or auction with the lowest commission rates in the country,” Steve Borock, MCS Senior Consignment Director and Buyer of comics and original art, said. “While we have been selling art in the past, most OA collectors don’t see it before it gets snatched up or just plain don’t know we sell and auction original art. It’s a small secret that most ‘in the know’ keep to themselves. We are going to change that! We have been aggressively looking, buying, and taking in consignments of some really cool art! In our next Prime Auction (starting on Monday, October 3) we have a small amount of OA which includes two Teen Titan pages by the recently departed legend George Pérez! It’s so sad, I still miss my friend George! He was a true fan and hobbyist.”
Borock went on to say that while MCS is a large retailer of comic books, they are now seriously working to become a large seller of art over the next few years. He also noted that while there is a lot of competition in the marketplace, Borock feels that with the power behind MCS, led by hobby pro Buddy Saunders, and with low commissions, MCS could become an even more popular website. Their commission rate is 8% for pieces $1,000 or above and a $1,000 cap on a single commission no matter the final sales price.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, Borock joined Bill Cox of Comicartfans.com to feature MCS art and consigned art, as well as an interview on YouTube.
Cox is the founder of Comicartfans.com, which features over a million pieces of comic art, and he has also helped raise funds for the Hero Initiative charity organization. He hosts the Comic Art Live show on YouTube where he live-streams weekly shows featuring collector interviews and live art sales with many famous comic artists and sellers.
