In 1993, eMoviePoster owner Bruce Hershenson was preparing auctions for Christie’s Auction House in New York City when a collection of mid-1920s movie posters was discovered. That collection included two examples of The Gold Rush one-sheet advertising the classic Charlie Chaplin film, which had never been seen in the hobby.

Christie’s sold one of those posters privately and the other realized $70,700 in their auction. In the 30 years since, eMoviePoster has not seen another example of the poster offered at auction or privately.

Now, the person who purchased The Gold Rush one-sheet from Christie’s in 1993 has consigned it to eMoviePoster. According to Hershenson, it is in far better condition than the other example, which had required significant restoration.

The Gold Rush is a landmark movie and one of the greatest silent films of the era, and the poster is among the most desirable from the time period. The poster will be offered on December 19, 2023, as a part of eMoviePoster’s December Major Auction.

New bidders interested in purchasing The Gold Rush one-sheet must register at least one day before the poster closes for bidding.
