Heritage’s next Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction is coming up soon on June 20-23, 2024, featuring art by big names like Frank Miller and Alex Ross, and important Golden Age keys.

Frank Miller’s Daredevil #165 cover features the Man without Fear in motion as he acrobatically evades Doctor Octopus’ mechanical arms. It is the earliest Miller cover that Heritage has offered and the first time this cover has been available to the public.

There are multiple first appearances and early keys in the auction, including Detective Comics #27 CGC 4.5 (first Batman), Superman #1 CGC 1.5 (origin of Superman), Batman #1 CGC 4.0 (first Joker and Catwoman), Marvel Comics #1 CGC 4.5 (first Human Torch, origin of Sub-Mariner), Captain America Comics #1 CGC 5.0 (first Captain America). Whiz Comics #2 CGC 7.0 (first Captain Marvel) is the highest graded unrestored copy.

Alex Ross is showcased with his Shazam! Power of Hope double-page spread 34-35 showing Captain Marvel saving the Hoover Dam and confronting the ones who caused the damage. His signature style also shines on the Superman: Peace on Earth double-page spread 28-29 on which the Man of Steel delivers food to those in need in Rio de Janeiro.

Miller’s art continues to shine with his Daredevil #166 story page 15 showing the hero in a brutal fight with a gladiator. On Daredevil #188 story page 21, he emerges from his isolation chamber to see Stick’s ninjas taking out the assassin Kirigi. His Wolverine #4 story page 13 features a key moment from the limited series when Mariko’s abusive husband Noburu dies. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #2 story page 37 from “Dark Knight Triumphant” is the moment that Batman has been beaten by the Mutant Leader to be rescued by Carrie Kelley, who wants to be his next Robin.

Artists also featured in the auction are Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita Sr., Will Eisner, Neal Adams, and many others.
