ComicConnect’s Event Auction 60 starts on Monday, December 2, 2024, with vintage comics and original art from across the comic ages. It is led by Superman’s debut in Action Comics #1 9.0 restored, which is one of the three highest graded copies.
Other important debut appearances and first issues include Batman #1 and Captain Marvel’s start in Whiz Comics, plus new Golden Age additions like the Green Lantern’s first appearance in All-American Comics #16 and the debut of the villainous Icicle in All-American #90. Scarce Golden Age keys are Red Raven #1 and Miracle Comics #4. There’s also foreign finds, such as a lost wedding between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in the Mexican El Sorprendente Hombre Arana #128 and the rare Japanese Superman #53. Quality pulps range from Weird Tales to Amazing Stories #5 7.0 introducing Buck Rogers.
The original art includes Joe Jusko’s paintings for the Marvel Masterpieces trading card line, a Yanick Paquette/Bob McLeod page from Wonder Woman #140, Alex Ross’ rendering of General Strange on the cover of 2023’s Doctor Strange #6, Graham Nolan’s art of Joker’s goons bashing Batman in Detective #673, and John Byrne/Joe Rubinstein signed page of Captain America #252 shows Cap trying to save Mr. Hyde, all in addition to pieces by Frank Miller, Jim Aparo, Tradd Moore, Jack Kirby, and more.
