Pedigree Comics’ Late January Grand Auction will feature more high grade magazines from the Massachusetts pedigree, according to Pedigree Comics CEO and President Doug Schmell. The auction is scheduled to begin in just a few days, on Monday, January 20, 2025, and last for two weeks until Monday, February 3 as a separate event on the Pedigree Comics website.
There is no buyer’s premium on any of the lots in the auction and every book and magazine is listed with no reserve. Every book is CGC-certified and the minimum bid is only $30 for this auction. All the high grade Massachusetts and non-pedigree magazines can be viewed in the Auction Preview right now on the Pedigree Comics website.
Many of the magazines in the auction are doubles and triples from the Massachusetts Collection. It began in 1993 by dealer Marnin Rosenberg and contained approximately 4,000 comic books from various publishers and approximately 500 Marvel magazines. Schmell purchased the entire run directly from Rosenberg in the early 2000s and began selling them on his website in 2006. The bulk of the magazines were just recently certified by CGC with most of them in 9.6 to 9.8 grade with white pages. The auction features many duplicate issues from the Savage Sword of Conan run, Savage Tales, and Planet of the Apes. The non-pedigree titles and runs include Captain Britain, Creepy, Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, Eerie, Space: 1999 Magazine, Vampirella, and more.
Details and specific titles from Pedigree’s Marvelous Massachusetts Marvel Magazine Mania Auction Part IV will be shared in the “Latest News” section on Pedigree’s website, as well as on Scoop.
