Hake’s Auctions held their premier Auction #243 on March 25-26, 2025, ending with $2.2 million in sales. The event drew in bidders from across multiple collecting fields, including political memorabilia, action figures, comic books, baseball items, and more. One of the many standout categories that achieved robust interest was the original art section, which featured comic art, product art, paintings, and more.

The Aurora Incredible Hulk model kit box lid original art by Neal Adams reached $32,204. The 12-1/2” x 24-1/2” artboard mounted to slightly larger illustration board features mixed media original art with an image area measuring approximately 8-3/4” x 23”. The art was created for use on the lid to Aurora model kits that were released in 1966, showing the Hulk standing amid twisted wreckage and two smoking craters with his fists clenched, an angry snarl on his face.

The Marvels #4 comic page by Alex Ross surpassed its $10,000 estimate when it sold for $16,874. The gouache and wash art comes from page 26 of the limited series. Ross’ realistic style is featured on a three-panel page dominated by Sub-Mariner’s Atlantean landing force advancing on New York City.

The West Coast Avengers #33 cover by Al Milgrom with inks by Mike Machlan hammered for $9,735. It shows Wonder Man battling a troop of advanced ape warriors with Moon Knight, Tigra, Hawkeye, and Mockingbird defeated in the foreground.

The Robotech: The Macross Saga #2 wraparound cover by Neil Vokes hammered for $8,260. The wraparound cover shows an action-packed scene of Roy Fokker’s VF-1S Valkyrie engaged in a firefight, destroying one of the Imperial Zentraedi Forces’ Battlepods.

The Giant-Size Super-Heroes Featuring Spider-Man #1 page by Gil Kane showing Spider-Man fighting Man-Wolf went for $6,853. Mickey Mouse & Donald Duck 1948 Rexall Magazine Christmas cover by Hank Porter realized $7,139. The Micronauts #26 page by Pat Broderick featuring Nick Fury and Dum Dum Dugan saw $6,425. Ken Kelly’s cover art for heavy metal group Stormburner’s Shadow Rising album saw $6,344.
