The 24th Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention will be held on April 4-6, 2025, at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, located at 70 Yorktown Center in Lombard, Illinois.

This year, they are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Conan author Robert E. Howard’s first published story, as well as the 150th birthday of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars creator Edgar Rice Burroughs.

The massive dealer room will be filled with 180 tables and around 100 dealers from the US, Canada, the UK, and Switzerland. They will display pulps, vintage paperbacks, science fiction, fantasy and mystery hardcovers, Golden and Silver Age comics, original illustration art, movie memorabilia, and more.

As usual, they will have auctions on both Friday and Saturday nights, featuring material from several collectors and estates, including the estate of famed collector Robert Weinberg. Among the highlights in this year’s auctions are:

  • numerous issues of Weird Tales, including the first appearance of Conan, many in high grade condition
  • a rare typescript of A.E. van Vogt’s classic sci-fi novel The World of Null A
  • signed items by Ray Bradbury, Ray Palmer, Frederick Nebel, Wayne Rogers, and many others
  • many hero pulps, including The Shadow, Doc Savage, The Spider, and Doctor Death
  • many other rare pulps and books, including Gun Molls, as well as weird menace titles such as Terror Tales

The art show at this year’s convention will feature art depicting art from the worlds of Robert E. Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs, including displays from artists Gary Gianni, Doug Klauba, and Mark Wheatley. Their film programming, curated by Ed Hulse, will run on Friday and Saturday, showing movies and serials based on pulp stories. The evening programming will include presentations on Howard and Burroughs, as well as a tribute to sword and sorcery author and editor Howard Andrew Jones, and a look at the launch of the definitive edition of the classic sci-fi round robin novel, Cosmos. Sunday morning will see New Pulp Sunday programming devoted to the vibrant and colorful world of New Pulp organized by Ron Fortier of Airship 27 Productions.
