Quantcast

In her 75 years in comics, Paula Brooks has been on both sides of the good versus evil fight using the aliases Huntress and Tigress. She was originally created by Mort Meskin as a heroine in Sensation Comics #68 (August 1947), then later reintroduced by Roy Thomas as a villainess in Young All-Stars #6 (November 1987). A skilled fighter on either side of the battle, Paula is known for using a crossbow or sharpened claws as her weapons of choice.

Paula idolized Paul Kirk the Manhunter when she was a teenager and wanted to be his partner, so she trained in martial arts and taught herself how to shoot a crossbow. Her debut came during a baseball game between the All-Star Squadron and Young All-Stars, then she helped them rescue Green Lantern from Baron Blitzkrieg and became a member of the Young All-Stars.

She was a part of the fight against a group of Nazis called Axis Amerika and a battle with Gudra left her seemingly dead. When she returned, Paula had adopted a new persona as a villain.

She became a thorn in the side of Wildcat, including kidnapping him for her own private zoo. Her reputation for tangling with the Justice Society of America hero earned her an invitation to join the Injustice Society. Eventually Paula married her teammate Lawrence “Crusher” Crock, aka Sportsmaster, and their daughter, Artemis, became a villain who also went by Tigress.
