Pantha, aka Rosabelle Mendez, is a feisty, sometimes hot-headed, member of the Teen Titans. Armed with sharp claws, cat’s eye vision, enhanced agility, and superstrength, she is an important member of the team who wasn’t afraid to push her teammates.

Marv Wolfman and Tom Grummett introduced Pantha in The New Titans #73 (February 1991). She had been mutated by the Wildebeest Society and didn’t know anything about her life before that, specifically if she was originally a woman or a panther. Despite her attempts to uncover her roots she was unable to find the truth.

Even though she was a member of the Teen Titans, she was not much of a team player. Pantha kept herself separate and gave them a hard time when things didn’t go well. The friction did not stop her from being a valuable member of the team.

Pantha became a sort of surrogate mother to Baby Wildebeest, despite lacking motherly intuition and regularly being frustrated by the relationship. Eventually he grew on her, she helped him in an alien attack, and when she left the Titans with Red Star, she took Baby Wildebeest with her.

She was involved in the Infinite Crisis storyline, fighting alongside the Titans, Justice Society, and Doom Patrol to stop Superboy-Prime. When she tried to take him on, he killed her and Baby Wildebeest with his superior strength. Later she reappeared with other formerly dead characters as a reanimated Black Lantern in the Blackest Night event.
