Kate Bishop is a very skilled archer, swordswoman, boxer, and martial artist who became the third hero to use the codename, Hawkeye. She’s been a member of several Avengers teams, particularly the Young Avengers, and often allies with other heroes like Clint Barton and America Chavez. She was created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, who introduced her 20 years ago in Young Avengers #1 (April 2005).

Kate was born to wealthy Manhattan socialites Derek and Eleanor Bishop, and has a sister named, Susan. Before she met her future teammates, Kate was sexually assaulted in Central Park, and she responded by devoting herself to combat training to protect herself in the future.

She encountered the Young Avengers when they were out on a mission, so she followed them back to Avengers mansion to learn more about the team. Once she created a suit inspired by Mockingbird and Hawkeye, Kate helped the team in a battle with Kang the Conqueror, then officially became a member.

After stopping Kang, Captain America and Iron Man told the team not to engage anymore villains without getting permission from their parents. Since the young heroes still wanted to be a team, Kate found new headquarters, using a warehouse owned by one of her father’s companies.

When her teammate, Patriot, was injured, Kate confronted Captain America, telling him that her friend might not have been hurt if Cap had trained them. Following that argument, Jessica Jones gave Kate the original Hawkeye’s bow and arrows with a note from Cap that addressed her as Hawkeye. Jessica confided that the only person who ever stood up to him like that was Clint, so he wanted her to take his codename and become the third Hawkeye.
