Actress Felissa Rose became a horror icon for her role as Angela in the summer camp slasher Sleepaway Camp, which is a cult favorite with horror fans. During Pop, Rock ‘N New Year’s Evil, she chatted with Scoop about the event, the significance of the horror community, and participating in the show’s special events.

Scoop: Are you having fun?
Felissa Rose (FR): We’re having the best time here at Pop, Rock ‘N New Year’s Evil 2020!

Scoop: What attracted you to this show?
FR:
Oh my gosh, I love this show. I love Scott and Michelle [Hewitt]. They’re just beautiful people, they promote the show. These guests, and being in this area on the East Coast, is just magical. I had the best time last night.

Scoop: What was your initial thought when you heard about the idea of a New Year’s Eve convention?
FR: I said, “Sign me up right away.” I heard about it from Mike Perez and he just said, “We’re going to have a big New Year’s Eve show” and I thought, this is the horror family. This is going to be amazing. So, yeah, I wanted to come. Definitely.

Scoop: Last night right before midnight you sang “We Are Family,” with David Howard Thornton and a few others and you talked about the horror community. Can you elaborate on that now?
FR:
First of all, I’m a huge fan of the horror genre. I just feel so grateful to be part of this community and everyone is so connected and loving with each other that it makes sense that we’d ring in the new year with each other. Having this kind of party just fosters all of that love and that connection and that bond that we have. So, singing that song it just meant, we are family. Everyone got up and rang in the new year and I think next year [Scott] should do it again and we can do it all over! Together!

Scoop: You also had a pretty awesome Carrie moment at the end of the night.
FR:
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I did that! The beautiful Anastasia [Stone], who’s been a part of this Pop, Rock ‘N Horror family was so generous to come up there in the Carrie gown with the flowers and I just threw that bucket of [fake] blood all over her. It just made the whole night that much crazier and more spectacular.

Scoop: Was that your favorite part of the show so far?
FR:
I just think being with everyone was the best part.

Scoop: Are you attending cons in the spring that you can tell me about?
FR:
I do, yeah, I have a lot of shows coming up. I’ll be in Atlanta at Days of the Dead, I’ll be at Scares That Care, Motor City Nightmare, there’s a whole bunch that are listed on my website at felissarose.com and I’m always on social media posting throughout the year. There’s a lot coming up.

Scoop: Great, thank you.
FR:
Thank you!
