Overstreet @ 50: Five Decades of the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide arrived in comic shops on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 and the feedback has been almost unanimous in its praise. The Guide’s 50-year history as the bible for comic collectors is celebrated in this lush volume. It is part loving tribute and part celebration of everything Bob Overstreet has accomplished with The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide across 50 years.

“Aside from the definitive Bob Overstreet interview and the amazing cover gallery that spans all 50 years of the Guide’s history, Overstreet @ 50 includes comments from some of the top dealers and collectors in comics, and commentaries from those who have been involved with The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide in many different ways,” said J.C. Vaughn, Vice-President of Publishing for Gemstone Publishing.

Those commentaries about the Guide are provided by former DC Comics President and Publisher Paul Levitz, former CBG Editor Maggie Thompson, pioneering comics dealer David T. Alexander and Buddy Saunders, acclaimed cover artist Joe Jusko, Wynonna Earp creator Beau Smith, CGC Primary Grader Matt Nelson, CBCS Primary Grader Steve Borock, and Torpedo Comics’ Steven Houston.

The book also includes Bob Overstreet’s top five favorite Guide articles from the book’s first five decades.

“The Guide, with all the pricing and reference data, has been a big part of the comic book hobby for a long time. Those of us who haven’t been around for the Guide’s entire 50-year existence are proud to have done our part during our tenures. Both Steve Geppi and I have used the term ‘custodian’ to describe our connection to the Guide, him as owner, and me as ‘content updating/designing production guy.’ We weren’t there at the beginning, and others may take our places in the future, but we feel a solemn commitment to maintain the reputation and stature of the Guide while we’re on duty,” said Creative Director Mark Huesman.

“This book is a wonderful highlight reel of what makes the Guide so important to comic collecting. Many industry professionals share profound insight into the Guide and its relationship to the hobby, the cover gallery is a timeline of the Guide’s progression, the Hall of Fame entries celebrate some of the greatest creators in our field, and learning about the Guide’s roots from Bob himself is truly illuminating,” said Associate Editor Amanda Sheriff.

It's available in better comic shops or from our web site. Overstreet @ 50 clocks in at 336 pages. It features an Incredible Hulk cover by Joe Jusko, and it will be available in hardcover ($30) and soft cover ($20) versions (plus shipping and handling).
