The classic storytelling of Jules Verne meets the cyberpunk sensibility in the new Image/Shadowline comic, Jules Verne’s: Lighthouse. The creative duo of David Hine and Brian Haberlin, who previously collaborated on The Marked and Sonata, are working on the series. The swashbuckling space adventure will be told as a five-issue miniseries, beginning in April 2021.

Jules Verne’s: Lighthouse takes place at the edge of the galaxy, which is home to the supercomputer called Lighthouse. The important piece of machinery guides ships through wormholes that saves them months or even years of travel. Three humans, an alien, and a nanny bot have successfully run the remote space station for years until Captain Kongre and his space pirates arrive. Now the future is threatened and through the conflict, secrets of each of the Lighthouse crewmembers is revealed.

“Brian introduced me to this lesser-known Jules Verne story of dastardly brigands and survival on a lonely, windswept island,” Hine said. “We did the obvious thing and transformed it into an epic science fiction tale of space piracy, wormholes, galaxy-spanning conflict and a glitchy but lovable robot called Moses.”

Lighthouse is a story that has been in my orbit for years. It’s one of Jules Verne’s most interesting stories on an emotional/psychological level. David and I love playing with flawed characters and this story is simply full of them. A tale of survival and redemption, against all odds at the far corner of the universe,” Haberlin said.

Jules Verne’s: Lighthouse #1 will be in comic book stores on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. It comes with cover A by Haberlin and Geirrod Van Dyke (Diamond Code FEB210038) and cover B by Haberlin and Van Dyke.
