The Star Wars video game universe is expanding. Lucasfilm Games and Electronic Arts are partnering on three new Star Wars games, including the next title in the Star Wars Jedi franchise, an unnamed strategy game, and an unnamed first person shooter. All three are in development from Respawn Entertainment.

Respawn’s Stig Asmussen is leading the Star Wars Jedi story as game director. Peter Hirschmann, who has a long history with Star Wars, will be game director on the first person shooter. Greg Foertsch is creating the strategy game, which will be developed through collaboration between Bit Reactor (the new game developer he co-founded) and Respawn. For the game, Respawn will produce the game and Bit Reactor will lead development.

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented teams at Respawn,” Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly said. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

“Building on the previous successes of our EA relationship, this new collaboration highlights the trust and mutual respect shared between the world-class teams at EA, Respawn, and Lucasfilm Games,” Walt Disney Games SVP Sean Shoptaw said. “Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy.”

Respawn founder and group GM Vince Zampella is overseeing the projects between EA and Lucasfilm. “We are huge fans of Star Wars and we are thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years,” Zampella said. “If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey.”
