As summer inches closer, movie and TV fans are getting first looks, expanded plot summaries, and final previews before hotly anticipated films and shows debut. In case you missed them, here are some of the trailers that were released in May 2023.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season two, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will explore new territories and meet new civilizations while also embarking on their own personal journeys. “Facing friends and enemies both new and familiar, their adventures will unfold in surprising ways never seen before on any Star Trek series,” the show’s description states. Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Melissa Navia, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Babs Olusanmokun, and Melanie Scrofano. It premieres on Paramount Plus on June 15, 2023.

The Flash

The last trailer for The Flash starts with a comical note as a group of teens gush over how much they love the Flash (Ezra Miller). When Barry Allen confides in Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) that he can travel back in time and could save both their parents, Bruce points out that he could also destroy everything. What follows is a blend of previously released content and a few new scenes – like Barry finding Batman’s (Michael Keaton) 1989 Batmobile, more of an introduction for Kara/Supergirl (Sasha Calle), and a brief scene with Iris West (Kiersey Clemons). It arrives in theaters on June 16.

Secret Invasion

Titled “Fight,” the Secret Invasion trailer opens with former SHIELD Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) telling James Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle) that an invasion is already happening – only “we can’t even tell who the invaders are.” Choosing not to alert the Avengers, Fury sets out to stop the invasion himself, with assistance by Skrull ally Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman). The six-episode season will start streaming on Disney+ on June 21.

Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion starts with single mother Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) moving her family into a New Orleans manor that she soon learns is filled with ghosts. She hires a team of paranormal experts (LaKeith Stanfield, Danny DeVito, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, and Jamie Lee Curtis) to rid the house of the spectral tenants. The movie, which also stars Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, Chase Dillon, Hasan Minhaj, and Kurt Yue, debuts in theaters on July 28.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

Set during the tenth annual Hunger Games, the story in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes follows future Panem President Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) when he was a young man chosen to be a mentor in the games. His charge? Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the female tribute from District 12 – the very district that would produce Katniss Everdeen to the games 64 years later. As Lucy tries to survive the games, Snow navigates the Capitol, his emotions, and his own murky morals. It arrives in theaters on November 17.
