ABLAZE is introducing a young heroine embarking on great adventures in medieval times in their new all-ages book, Shepherdess Warriors. The comic is created and written by Jonathan Garnier with art by Amélie Fléchais.

The story is set 10 years after the men of the village left home to fight in what is dubbed the Great War, leaving the women, children, and elderly of their home behind.

“But the women quickly took charge of village matters,” the description reads. “This is how the ‘Order of Shepherdess Warriors’ was formed, a group of female fighters chosen among the most courageous and acrimonious, to protect not only their flocks, but also the village! Molly is happy because as soon as she turns 10, she can finally start training, and if she’s good enough, she can join the order and work out why there are more and more ferocious wolves in the valley. This quest will take her far beyond the boundaries of the land she knows, into the sorcerers’ forest and on the trail of her missing parents.”

The first installment of the two-volume series will be out on April 9, 2024, and the second part will be out later this year.

In addition to the comic, an animated series is in production and a trailer is already available.
